FAQ

Answer: Some do – some don’t. We do not use any ruminant proteins in our feeds. We do use porcine meat and bone meal in poultry and swine feeds as the amino acid balance and available calcium and phosphorus make it an ideal ingredient to maximize growth and the production of strong eggs, in the case of our layer products. The reality is that both swine and poultry are omnivorous and the consumption of animal products is in fact natural for them.

Answer: We do on rare occasion change our formulas, if new data suggests we can improve animal production. We do not least cost our formulas that would result in changes in palatability and effectiveness. We use “Locked In Formulas” to insure that we produce consistent product that tastes the same to the animal and provides proper nutrition. Although this may occasionally lead to slightly higher prices, it helps us to maintain the greater value, i.e. production per dollar spent.

Answer: In addition to our product testing, the multiple states we distribute product to test our feeds to insure they meet label requirements. Beyond that, as with our locked in formulas, we use a “short” list of suppliers from which we know we will always receive quality products. We also maintain our pelleting operation at temperatures that insure the starches become more available to the animal, without damaging proteins.

Answer: Prior to the stabilization of vitamins this was a very legitimate question. However the vitamins used today have been stabilized to reduce oxidation. In reality the feed will meet the label guarantee and provide nutrition to the animal for 2 or more years. Pelleted feeds will start to loose pellet quality, (more fines and breakable pellets) after 1 year, but the product is still safe and efficacious to feed. Prince prints the date of manufacturing directly on our label as opposed hiding the manufacture date in a code or printed in an obscure location.

Answer: We use the poly bags as they are easily identified and allow for customer appeal. Additionally these bags are strong and less likely to be broken in transportation and storage. Although not impervious, they are less subject to bug or rodent problems than typical paper bags during storage at the store or at the home. These bags are recyclable and may be returned to recycling centers that accept other forms of plastic.

Answer: Prince Corporation has its own nutritionist with over 20 years of industry experience. We also use the services of nutritionist with our suppliers, and in the case of our Prince Regency Equine Feeds we use the services of Kentucky Equine Research. Our feeds are designed to maximize production and as such meet or exceed National Research Council’s recommendation on nutrient content.
